FAMILY THERAPY
I work with families on a variety of issues including parent/child/teen conflict, family disagreements and cut-offs. Many of these issues are resolved by improving our understanding of what is going on for ourselves and others in our family system, and by developing new ways to communicate our needs and wants in more positive ways.
YOUTH/TEENS (12-18)
There's no doubt the pandemic impacted our children and teens (and ourselves!) in ways we don't yet fully understand. The pandemic was a huge disruptive event that impacted us globally and collectively. Many parents are still reeling from the impact that played on their work and personal relationships, and for our children, their social and learning development and sense of safety was hugely interrupted.
Adolescents can experience a range of challenges including general and social anxiety, depression, increased desire to isolate from others, and difficulty with regularly attending school. My role is to help your child understand how certain ways of coping/avoiding have been developed for a good reason, and through a better understanding of this (and normalizing!) we can look at identifying different and healthier behaviours to help them function better at home and school and in their relationship to others and themselves.
